Fushimi Inari

Another big place to visit is Fushimi Inari. There are thousands of bright orange Torii gates that go up and down the mountain. Along the trail there are several fox statues because it is said that foxes are messengers to the god of rice. There's no entrance fee to go up to the mountain. At the base of the mountain, there are several lil food stands that serve Japanese street food such as bright red candied apples. Most people stop at the viewpoint and don't make it up to the top, and tbh I don't blame them. When I went to Japan two years ago I stopped at the viewpoint but when I went in May I went all the way to the top. Its only about an extra 15 minute walk, but if you're looking for a nice view, stopping at the viewpoint is much nicer. Unless you go at 5-6 am or 6:30 pm, there are going to be so so many people. When I went in the middle of the day it was impossible getting a picture without anyone in it. The hike up is not very difficult, there are just a lot of stairs that kind of makes it difficult but not impossible.

During the day the temple is always jam packed with people

When it's near sunset there are less people but all the stands selling charms are closed by this time
