Sushi

What's a trip to Japan without having some sushi?? Well its a bad one if you ask me! That being said... I only got sushi like 5 times during the whole 4-5 months T_T I know I know I wish I had it more often than that. 2 out of the 5 times I went to Kura Revolving Bar. There are actually locations here in CA (in Cupertino and now Pleasanton), but each plate is more expensive here compared to Japan.

So there is a difference between the sushi here and the sushi in Japan. The sushi restaurants here will often mostly serve sushi rolls, topped and filled with a bunch of different things. However, in Japan its mostly just nigiri sushi, which is basically the fish on top of rice with a little bit of wasabi between the two. There is also a certain way to eat it. So one would think that you dip the rice into the soy sauce then eat it, but you actually dip the fish (so you have to dip the sushi in upside down) in the soy sauce then eat it. Honestly, I really liked the nigiri sushi, but I found myself craving the rolls from back home.

But back to Kura! So I think we all know the basic sushi boat style restaurant, where you're sitting at a bar and the sushi is floating in lil wooden boats on water. Kura had this basic set up, where the plates were on a revolving belt, but at each table there was also a tablet for you to order specific pieces you wanted. There is also another fun thing to Kura, you have the chance of winning a toy! So after you eat 5 plates, you put them into the lil dish return at your table, which then starts a game on the tablet. The thing that sucks is it's not interactive, so it's all up to the tablet to decide if you win or lose. The theme changes every so now and then, the two times I went they toys were based on an anime show then Pokemon.
