Pancakes

You've probably seen a video on facebook of thick fluffy pancakes that jiggle when you shake the plate. So of course my friends and I had to try them. We looked up and found several places in our area for the best that we could get. We decided just to walk around Dotonburi area and choose one based on their signs and pictures. We ended up picking to go into Gram, which is a chain store. However, for some reason they limited the number of fluffy pancake orders they made a day. The have 3 different times and they'll only make 20 plates of pancakes per time (so a total of 60 per day). We came after they reached the 20 plate limit for the day so we decided to try it another day. We ended up having them in Nara after the deer and Todaiji. It's really interesting to see the difference in how busy the stores are based on their location, because we went 45 minutes after the hour started and this place only sold 5 plates so far.

The process of making these pancakes is pretty long because you have to whip the egg whites up then add them to the batter. Then to cook them you have to let them steam on low heat for about 10 minutes (which might be why they limit the number they sell per day). Gram had several different types of pancakes, like regular, tiramisu, one with fruits, and others. We all decided just to get the regular ones. They were actually really good! And it came with a cute little syrup pourer thingy. And of course it made for a cute video for da gram (haha get it :D ).
